New School, Old Habbits

[Zane]

A young boy moved into a seat, holding a small, near-finished figurine of a snake, and brought out his pocket-knife from his right pocket. The wooden snake had itself wrapped in a coil with its head held up, sticking out of the middle, with an open mouth as if hissing and spread out cobra wings. Sticking outside of the snakes mouth was thin forked tongue that a live one may have used for sensing, and within the opening were fangs on the top and bottom lips. The great detail in the sculpture made the eyes seem almost as hypnotizing as a cobra is known to be, even though it was still only wood. Scales were already carved into the snakes head as well as part of the neck, but the rest was simply smooth, ending in a point at the end of the coil where the tail stopped. Zane began weaving the point of his blade down the snake's back, drawing more scales down the body so as to make it more detailed and realistic than it already was.

[Iceman]

Iceman walked down the stairs and saw Zane. He didn't know what the 'kid' was doing in the living room. Clearly, he was the youngest student. Even so, Iceman decided to be friendly.... well, semi-friendly.

"Hey, what are you doing here?" he asked.

[Zane]

Zane glanced to see who had asked the question and replied, "Carving." Turning his head back to his sculpture he continued to weave the scaled into place. "What are you doing here?" he asked with a grin while his eyes didn't leave the sculpture. Removing the pocket-knife, Zane blew gently to get rid of some of the wood chips and then continued the weaving.

[Iceman]

"I live here... and can I ask why your carving something in the middle of our living room?" he asked.

Thinking for a moment, Iceman then decided to ask him.

"Are you a student here?"

Iceman didn't really know, he's never seen a student at the Institute as young as Zane was.

[Zane]

"As far as I know," he replied affirmatively. He wasn't sure how to respond to the first question, so he stopped carving and closed his pocket-knife. "Am I not supposed to carve here?" Zane asked, looking toward the other student.

[Iceman]

Iceman laughed.

"Um... I don't know. I just thought it was kind of odd you were carving in the living room," he pointed out. Looking at the carpet, he then realized that there were small bits of wood on the ground. "Messy?"

[Zane]

Zane looked down to where he was looking and saw the small wood chips he had just blown off of the figurine and simply replied, "I can clean it up." Thought his statement was true, he decided to simply put his knife back into his pocket and set the scuplture down on the small table next to him.

[Iceman]

"You sure?" Iceman asked. He didn't know how anyone could clean it up without a vaccuum of some sort.

[Nightshade]

Nightshade was slinking past the living room window, hoping she wouldn't startle any of the X-men, when she paused and back up to see Bobby. She rolled her eyes before she smiled and listened to them for a moment.

[Iceman]

"Ah well, I'm going back upstairs. See ya around," he said. Iceman turned and walked up the stairs.

[Zane]

"Alright, alright, fine," Zane replied tossing his hands half-way into the air, "I won't carve in the living room anymore. Sorry, I'm just used to it ((OOC: And there wasn't a board for outside ))."

[Iceman]

Iceman waved.

"No problem."

OOC: Just make a thread for outside.

[Zane]

Zane allowed his eyes to travel around the room and they landed on the window where someone was standing. Smiling, he waved toward her, wondering who she was. He then stood and walked over to open the window and say hi, feeling like he might as well get to know some people since he was to live there.

[Nightshade]

Nightshade folded her arms on the window seal "You must be another of the X-men, ya?" she asked with a tilt to her head. "Younger even then Bobby too I see..."

[Charles Xavier]

"Yes Nightshade it is Zane a 9 year X-Men student"Xavier said entering with his wheelchair. He looked at Nighshade and smiled. "Hello how are you"Xavier asked.
